Hi friends,
I decided to start a new series on the blog called Books and Thoughts. My goal for this year is to read more Christian YA, and what better way to stay motivated than to share my reading adventures with you?
I've been doing a lot of reading in quarantine, and this is really the time for you, too, if you're locked up and bored out of your mind. Find a new book, something you've never had time to read, and pick it up.
So, without further ado, here's the first of the series: The Story Peddler by Lindsay A. Franklin.
I think I've told you before, but I haven't been into fantasy books in the past few years (The Hunger Games kind of ruined me because it felt like nothing could beat it). I've been trying to get back into fantasy this past year, and I've found some pretty good ones lately. I was hesitant to start reading this book at first. But it starts out with a map of the world, which actually got me really excited. I love when an author really commits to the world so much, that they know where every place is.
The story peddler is a girl who has no idea what kinds of gifts she possesses. Living in the poor countryside, she dreams of one day making it to the capital and sharing her stories with the king. Then everything goes up in flames, causing her to have to run for her life.
This story is unique and magical, and I love the vibrant imagery of the stories the characters weave. And the best part, as I realized halfway through the book, is that this story is a series! Her third book is coming out soon, which means we don't have to wait to read the whole trilogy. (There's nothing I hate more than really getting into a series, only to find out the next book won't be out for another year..)
